hi Everyone..

i again have another question regarding replacement of water damaged walls and panels.

1) is it easier to access from the inside or outside??

2) is marine plywood beneficial to use or pressure treated or is there other recommendations.

i know i have a huge restoration ahead of me but i look at as rebuilding a muscle car or 1940-50's vehicle..i have time on my side... i was trying to determine which way is better seeing winter is coming so i could either work on it inside ...

There is a "unique" Starfire on Ebay right now. It is a 27ft model that is described being built for a school for doing "science experiments." It has an opening driver's side door but glassed over passenger side door. Bus doors directly behind where the pass side door would be. Barn doors on the rear.

It is described as a 1990 Starfire II model. Has the angular dash in it. The oddest thing about it to me is a "Belladona" plate on the glove box.

I've been on a hunt for this rig for several years. A local guy told me he had a 27ft Starfire that had an engine fire. He settled with the insurance then it went to an auction close to where I live. I asked all the local car auctions if they've ever seen a Starfire and they looked at me like I was crazy.

Well it just surfaced on Craigslist!

An interesting conversion to say the least! I've talked the guy who is selling it for a ...

I saw the post from another member who was talking about a 3-way toggle switch that is marked as "driving lights" in the owners manual. There are no driving lights on this model, but this switch is wired to a switch (checked by continuity) on the wall just inside the rear door. The common line that goes between these switches is BROWN. On the front toggle switch there are ...

Considering buying a 31ft 1987 EMC Starfire

The coach I am considering seems to be overpriced based on the NADA guide. The asking price is $9,500 and the NADA price is only $5,500. The coach has some previous owner "hacks" such as a replacement front couch, plywood mounted heater controls without the center a/c vent and an aftermarket steering wheel so the cruise control is mounted on the turn signal.

Does anyone have an opinion about whether the NADA price guide is way off or the sellers are way off?

Thanks,

This is something I've pondered for some time.

Ford made some fairly major changes to the E-350 van chassis in 1987 (Fuel Injection for one). Did EMC acquire all the E350 chassis all at once (maybe around '85) or did they come as they needed them?

Were there any Starfires made with Fuel Injection (maybe some of the "Starfire II's")? My rig is 1988 (that's what the window sticker says), but parts I've needed for the chassis are 1986 (master cylinder). I could go looking for ...

I'm learning the price of neglect. Lots of mice got in while I was gone this last year. Had a few leaks in the roof so now I have soft spots and the mice exploited them. The door [one+only] has self destructed and pulling the carpet/pad has revealed old issues. I live in SE Idaho so I have weather priorities,i.e., the door, roof, etc. The door, after disecting, is being changed to a solid core as a quick fix, but someday I hope to build something metal with the original skins. (Transfer on/off the other front/rear). It has two gas tanks one 50 gal. and one 25 gal. The gas gage doesn't

work either. An information anybody can give me would greately appreciated. Thanks

Looks like there are a few of "us" here.

I picked up an '88 Starfire Model 270J last year. Been slowly bringing it back to it's former glory. I have all the manuals that originally came with my rig.

Glad to see Jeff has started a forum for these rigs. Hopefully more will join.

I've located over 50 (with pics) of the "rumored" 300 that were produced.

Looking forward to sharing Starfire Stories.

Here's a pic of mine:

Any idea what the oblong plate is on the right side of the carb on the engine? Mine has rusted and there is a hole in the intake manifold. Ford says it is a crossover pipe for the carb thermostat but where does it go. I'm trying to get the two bolts off it and replace the part, if we can find one? Does the engine have to have that part or can it just be blocked?
